Embark on a culinary adventure with Taza, where tradition, friendship, and community converge to create a dining experience like no other in Middleton, Wisconsin. Founded by Sabi Atteyih and Mohammed Hinnawi, Taza is the culmination of over three decades of shared history, culinary expertise, and a passion for bringing the vibrant flavors of the Mediterranean and Middle East to the heart of Middleton.

Our story begins over 30 years ago when Sabi Atteyih, owner of the renowned Lulu’s Restaurant on Old University Avenue, crossed paths with Mohammed Hinnawi, the creative force behind Nile Restaurant on Odana Road. Together, they ventured into the culinary world, learning the art of cooking and restaurant management from Atteyih's mother, Khayreia Ashkar, who successfully ran Lulu’s after her partner's passing.

The journey continued with Atteyih's Casbah Restaurant and Lounge and Hinnawi's Nile Restaurant, both leaving a mark on Madison's culinary landscape. When the pandemic forced the closure of their respective establishments, destiny brought them together once again to create Taza, meaning "fresh" in Arabic.

Located in the former Compadres Mexican restaurant space in Middleton, Wisconsin, Taza opened its doors in June, offering a menu reminiscent of their previous ventures. The influence of Lulu's and Nile can be savored in every dish, celebrating the rich heritage and flavors that inspired their culinary pursuits.

At Taza, the stars of our dinner menu are the mixed grill combinations, perfect for sharing with loved ones. Our platters for two, four, six, or eight people showcase an array of lamb kefta, beef, chicken, and shrimp served on a bed of rice, accompanied by hummus, warm pitas, and a choice of soup or salad.

But Taza is more than just a restaurant; it is a cultural hub, a place where connections are forged, and a community thrives. Rooted in Palestinian heritage, Taza serves as a platform to support local immigrants by providing employment opportunities, English language learning, and a pathway to success in Madison and beyond.
